Lisa Boyer
Acupunturist

Dr. Lisa Boyer received her Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from Mount Holyoke College in Massachusetts. After college, Dr. Boyer spent 13 years as an officer in the Air Force and in federal law enforcement. While living in San Francisco, and volunteering at the nearby Marine Mammal Center, she realized she had the aptitude and the passion for veterinary medicine.

 

She returned to school and is a graduate of the University of California, Davis, School of Veterinary Medicine, in Davis, California, focusing her efforts on large and small animal treatment. After graduation, Dr. Boyer started her own business, Veterinary Relief Solutions. She has worked extensively as a
veterinarian in small animal clinics and as an Emergency and Critical Care veterinarian. Until 2008, she was the Director of Emergency Services for a major Specialty and Referral hospital in the Sacramento area.

 

She is a graduate of Dr. Richard Pitcairn's Professional Course in Veterinary Homeopathy and has completed various courses with the Chi Institute including acupuncture, food therapy and herbology. She practices integrative medicine, offering her clients a full range of services of Western, homeopathic, and Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicines.
In addition to holistic medicine, Dr. Boyer's professional interests include regenerative medicine, emergency and critical care, and public health. Dr. Boyer has traveled to Kenya and Mexico to teach public health and disease awareness through charitable organizations. She is married and the proud mother to three children and four dogs.


Patricia Frost Finch, DVM, DAVDC
Dentistry

Dr. Frost is a 1979 graduate of Colorado State University.  She completed an internship and residency in small animal surgery and dentistry at the University of Illinois in 1982.  From there she was in private practice doing both referral surgery and dentistry in California.  She became a Diplomate of the American Veterinary Dental College in 1989 and was Treasurer of the AVDC and on the board of directors from 1995-2001. She started her own business in 1995, Veterinary Dental Consulting, based out of her home in La Center, WA. 

 

As a mobile veterinary dental specialist she often goes into other practices to do more difficult dentistry cases as well as specialty type procedures like root canals, periodontal surgery and occasionally orthodontics.  This includes a trip to Fresno, CA every other month for a week. 

 

With all of her experiences over the years she has become an expert in the field and enjoy teaching basic as well as advanced dentistry.  She truly loves veterinary dentistry and the knowledge that paying attention to what is going on in the mouth can be hugely beneficial to pet’s overall health and well being.  This is something she is passionate about passing on to others interested in learning.


John Reed, DVM, DACVIM
Cardiology

Dr. Reed graduated from UC Davis in 1977. After graduating, Dr. Reed completed his internship at Washington State in 1978. During the years of 1978 – 1980 he worked on his cardiology residency at UC Davis. In 1982 he became board certified in Cardiology through ACVIM. Since 2000, Dr. Reed has been an adjunct professor in the UC Davis Department of Surgery and Radiology.


Matt Stepnik, DVM, DACVS
Surgery

Dr. Stepnik graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater with a BS in Biology in 2000. He is a 2004 graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Madison School of Veterinary Medicine. Following graduation he completed a year-long rotating internship at the University of North Carolina State Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital. Dr. Stepnik spent the following 3 years in a small animal surgery residency at the University of California-Davis completing it in 2008. Dr. Stepnik and his wife, a veterinarian who is currently in a dermatology residency at UC-Davis, share their home with 1 dog and 2 cats.


J.T. Vida, DVM, DACVS
Surgery

Dr. Vida received his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from the University of California - Davis in 2001. He then completed a rotating small animal medical and surgical internship at the Veterinary Specialty Hospital in San Diego, California. Following his internship, Dr. Vida returned to Davis to complete a residency in small animal surgery (2005) attaining board certification with the American College of Veterinary Surgeons in 2006. He then became a clinical instructor in both orthopedics and surgical oncology at University of California Davis until 2007.


Peter Walsh, DVM, DACVS
Surgery

Dr. Walsh is a 1994 graduate of Colorado State University's School of Veterinary Medicine. He also has a Masters in Veterinary Science. He completed an internship in small animal surgery and medicine and a surgical residency at the Western College of Veterinary Medicine in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada. Dr. Walsh joined the faculty at the University of California - Davis where he rotated coverage for all three of the small animal surgical services and ultimately was instrumental in developing and running the small animal surgical oncology service. He is now in private practice and started Veterinary Specialists Group (VSG) which provides both orthopedic and soft tissue surgical service in the Northern California area. Dr. Walsh is board certified with the American College of Veterinary Surgeons and has a particular interest in surgical oncology and reconstructive surgery. He is considered one of the leading authorities on limb spare procedures in dogs with bone tumors.
