Johanna Andrist

Receptionist

Johanna joined our team in March of 2011. She enjoys spending time with her husband and two year old daughter. Horses are one of Johanna's interests, she has a thoroughbred, named Heaven, that she rides in the foothills. She used to be on the Fresno State Equestrian team.  Johanna is currently going to school to become a registered veterinary technician. She also enjoys photography and gardening. The Andrist family has one dog (Patch), two cats (Chat and Boo), two rabbits (BunBun and Chubby) and two cockatiels (Little Fellow and Little Nouveau).

Cassie Arredondo

Receptionist

Cassie has worked at Pet Medical Center since April of 2005. She has a six year old Pit Bull mix named Chui, two black cats named Moco and Kobe and a red ear slider turtle named Tony. She loves working with animals and has occasionally fostered puppies and kittens for local rescues.  Cassie and her husband, Miguel, have been married since 2007 and two children: Allie (born 6/07) and Isaac (born 10/10). When not at work, Cassie enjoys spending time with her friends and family - she loves to host game night. The Arredondo family is always on the move, whether it’s visiting the zoo or going out of town for a quick get away.

Michele Basso

Bookkeeper

Michele has a B.S. in Ag Business from Fresno State University. She has been working as our Bookkeeper since April 1997. Michele and her husband, Ken, of thirty plus years have two daughters Nicole who graduated from St. Mary’s college and Ashley, who is attending Franciscan University of Steubenville, Ohio; she is graduating in nursing in May of 2011. Michele enjoys wine tasting, camping, gardening, and going to concerts. The Basso family has two dogs, Bella (Golden Retriever) and Cali (Chihuahua), a cat name Champ (orange Tabby), and one rabbits.

Wendy Berry, RVT

Registered Veterinary Technician

Wendy graduated from San Joaquin Valley College in 2000. She came to work for Pet Medical Center in the Fall of 2002. She enjoys time with her son Morgan, playing the Wii, going out dancing, listening to music, and taking trips to the coast. Wendy and Morgan have two dogs: Pirate (Boxer) and Louie (Boston Terrier), and two cats: Jack Sparrow (Siamese) and Dexter (Orange Tabby). Wendy assisted in delivering Pirate and his siblings via c-section. Wendy's beloved Boxer, Jake, and orange Tabby, Morris have crossed the Rainbow Bridge. Wendy says she enjoys working at a state of the art hospital because it?s nice to know our patients are getting wonderful care. Wendy and Morgan love Pirates of the Caribbean, especially Captain Jack.

Ashlee Braden, RVT

Registered Veterinary Technician

Ashlee has completed schooling to become a Registered Veterinary Technician and is studying to take her test. Ashlee has three Pugs, Pumba, Jersey (Jersey is an SPCA rescue) and Betty, a cat named Goose and a rabbit named Timon. She enjoys dancing, reading, riding street bikes and spending time with her Pugs and friends.

Jamie Bushéy

Veterinary Assistant

When given the chance, Jamie enjoys snowboarding with friends, going to football games and San Jose Sharks hockey games. While growing up, Jamie loved watching David Copperfield on TV, now she goes to his shows when he’s in town. She adds, “Anytime there is a car show or good concert, I am there!” Jamie’s “kids” include: Tobin, a kitten she tube and bottle fed after her step-dad found him and another kitten. His sibling didn’t make it, but Tobin is doing great! Raider and Bubba (cats) are brothers and best friends – Jamie says they are both lovebugs and are fun to watch. Jamie’s beloved pets that have crossed the Rainbow Bridge will forever live in her heart and she cherishes every moment she had with them; Sasha (5/2007) and Tigger (5/2008).

LeeAnn Dumars, DVM, ABVP (Canine and Feline Practice)

Veterinarian and Owner

Dr. DuMars was raised in Pennsylvania on a farm. She moved to Idaho after high school where her father retired. Lee-Ann graduated from the University of Idaho with a B.S. She studied Veterinary Medicine at Washington State University. After graduating she decided she was tired of rain and cold weather and came to practice in California. Starting off as an equine practitioner, Lee-Ann switched to small animal medicine after six months. For three years she worked at a veterinarian practice before opening her own practice in 1992. When not working, she enjoys horseback riding, family activities, such as baseball and soccer games. Lee-Ann and Bob live in Clovis on property where they house a conglomeration of pets, including horses, pot belly pigs, dogs, fish, rats, cats, and a lamb and goat. She has a son named Tyler and a daughter Rianna.

 

Myrna Garcia

Receptionist

Before coming to Pet Medical Center, Myrna worked at the CSU Fresno Quarter Horse unit while attending college. She did everything from cleaning stalls to breeding horses. In the coming years Myrna plans to complete her Animal Science major at Fresno State. She was born in Dinuba and there her parents raised her along with her sister and two brothers. All her life Myrna has loved animals and is now surrounded by loving canine, feline, equine, caprine, avian and reptilian companions, be it at her parents' home or her husband's ranch. She loves each and everyone of them, but especially her new SPCA Terrier mix rescue puppy, Nanuk, because she bottle fed him since he was 5 days old after his mother died and he and his siblings were turned into the SPCA, he is now a robust 5 month old. Myrna just recently added a new furry family member, Kuma, a Shih-Tzu puppy. On her time off, Myrna enjoys spending time with her family and husband Geno.

Courtney Giesbrecht

Kennel Assistant

Courtney was hired in December 2007 as a Kennel Assistant.  She is majoring in History at Fresno State and would like to get a Masters Degree in Museum Studies. Courtney likes history, cats, gardening, reading large books and National Geographic. One day she would like to move to England and have an organic farm, drink tea and wear lots of tweed and Wellington boots. Courtney and her family have two dogs (Foster and Wookie) and three cats (Sundae, Grady and Sushi).

Jana Huey

Pet Spa Coordinator

Jana has worked at Pet Medical Center since December of 2004. She currently supervises Boarding and Doggie Daycare, filling in as a receptionist and veterinary technician as needed, in addition she manages the website. All of Jana’s dogs are “purebred” mutts, she has cats as well. All of her animals have been rescued as Jana has been volunteering for multiple dog rescues since she was 8 years old. She is currently working with Dog Bless out of Victoria, British Columbia, Animal Compassion Team (ACT) and Westside Rescue. Her favorite color combination is hot pink and zebra print. On her time off, Jana enjoys spending time with her animals, family and friends, volunteering downtown with the homeless and their animals, taking photographs, going to the beach, working on the computer and watching TV.

Summer Johansen

Receptionist

Summer joined our team in July of 2008. Colten, Summer's son was born in December of 2009. She enjoys spending time with friends and family, shopping, going on long walks with Colten and their Yorkie, Dazie, taking drives and going out of town when possible. Summer and Colten also has a cat named Zoe. Summer says Colten is the best thing that has ever happened to her.

Sharon Johnston, DVM

Veterinarian

Dr. Johnston graduated from Clovis High in 1985. Four years later she received a BS in Zoology from UC Davis. She attended vet school at UC Davis and graduated in 1994. Before coming to Pet Medical Center in 2002, Dr. Johnston worked in Spring Valley and at Clovis Banfield for five years. She enjoys beading and gardening. Dr. Johnston's household consists of four cats and two Chihuahuas, Lilah and Minnie, who she says run the house. Her favorite color is purple. She is a rabid recycler.

Beth Kroeker, RVT

Registered Veterinary Technician

Beth has been a registered veterinary technician since 1987 and started working for Pet Medical Center in January 1996. She has been married to her husband Todd for over twenty-two years. Together they have two daughters, Emily and Sarah. The Kroeker family also includes their dog, Tucker (Lab mix) and cat, Giblet.

Shawnna Lenard, RVT

Registered Veterinary Technician

Shawnna graduated from San Joaquin Valley College in 2002. She has worked at Pet Medical Center and Spa since February of 2005. Shawnna has been with her husband Doyle for over a decade. Doyle and Shawnna have two children, Brendyn and Alyssa. On her time off Shawnna enjoys riding her quad, camping, puzzles, reading books to her children, and fostering animals while helping them find good homes. She loves the outdoors at all times and her favorite color is hot pink. The Lenard family also has a conglomeration of animals:  Caine (Pit Bull), Yahtzee and Scrabble (Chihuahua mixes), four cats (Cut, Myles, Sinda and Izzy), and numerous fish. Girlfriend, Shawnna?s "first born", crossed the Rainbow Bridge in December of 2008 after almost thirteen years with the Lenard family.

Yolanda Lopez

Housekeeping

Yolanda has been hard at work as our custodian since December of 2006. She enjoys eating Japanese food, taking vitamins, relaxing, getting massages, and being with her family and grandkids. Yolanda has three daughters, two sons and seven grandchildren. Three dogs and one fish are also part of the Lopez family. Yolanda loves to meet new people and have a lot of fun. She is always willing to help people in need. One day she would like to travel.  

Nancy McCully

Groomer

Before starting to groom dogs twenty-four years ago, Nancy was a hairdresser. Nancy two animals: Elway (Pug mix) and Honey (Siamese). She has three children. Nancy enjoys attending dog shows (Max, Nancy's lab who has crossed the Rainbow Bridge, was a retired show dog), traveling, having a good glass of wine, and listening to classical music.  

Kelly McElhinney

Practice Manager

Kelly was raised in Massachusetts. She received a B.S. from UMASS-Amherst, where she majored in Biology and minored in Wildlife and Fisheries. In May of 2008 she came on board as our Practice Manager. Kelly is an avid scuba diver and holds a NAUI Divemaster Certification. Kelly and her husband, Sean, are very active in the local dive community and are founding members of the Fresno Scuba Club. Kelly completed her MBA degree, with a focus in Human Resources, in November of 2008. Kelly and Sean have a family of mixed breed dogs and one rabbit. She also enjoys underwater and live concert photography, travel, hiking with their pets, gardening, visiting the Dog Park, live concerts, and ice hockey.

Jesse Mannon, RVT

Registered Veterinary Technician

Jesse is a graduate of San Joaquin Valley College. When away from work, she enjoys reading, watching movies, and spending time with her fiance, good friends, family and pets. Jesse has a cat named Ella, who was rescued off the streets when she was only a few weeks old. Ella was headed for the life of a feral cat, but Jesse spoiled her rotten and she has been a purrfect fur child.

Jackey Martinez

Veterinary Assistant

Jackey joined our team in 2008 while she was completing the Veterinary Technician program at San Joaquin Valley College. Jackey says she enjoys coming to work everyday because she gets to be around animals. Her interests include: fostering animals, being outdoors, dancing, taking trips and being with her family and friends, especially her boyfriend of 5 years, Abe. Her newest hobby is planning parties for her friends and family. Jackey has 7 dogs: Teddy (her #1 baby), Uggs, Ash, Ren and Stimpy, Maddie and Ollie.

Ashley Marzocca

Veterinary Assistant

Ashley is a graduate of San Joaquin Valley College. She was hired in October of 2008. Ashley enjoys traveling, reading, watching movies, and spending time with her family and friends. Ashley and her husband have two children, Giovanni and Isabella. The Marzocca family has four dogs: Faith, Lola, Chewy and Princess Leia.

Bob Mayorga

Owner

Bob is married to Lee-Ann. Bob attended Fresno State for his undergraduate degree. Bob has a Bachelors degree in Occupational Safety & Health as well as an MBA. For twenty years he worked in the paramedic field. Bob previously ran 911 paramedic systems in Fresno, the City of San Diego and Alameda County. When not at work, which is very rare, he enjoys golf and gardening. Bob not only is the office manager here, but he also wears many other hats. At home he has numerous animals to tend to. Wilbur, an American Bulldog puppy who was fostered by Bob and his family since he was ten days old, recently became a permanent member of the household.

Mira Minton

Registered Veterinary Technician

Mira started working at Pet Medical Center and Spa in May of 2011. She enjoys: running marathons, painting, camping, cooking, dancing, being with her nieces and nephew and hanging out with her friends and family. Mira and her husband, Kris, have four animals: Eragon (Beagle), Neo (Poodle/Terrier X), Maryweather (Chihuahua) and Nagera (cat).

Sherri Parks-Whittaker

Receptionist

Sherri has been working at Pet Medical Center and Spa since November of 2004; she has a degree in computer programming. She enjoys boating, riding her quad, sewing, good wine, and barbecues with her friends. Sherri has been married for over nineteen years and has a teenage daughter, Ria. Moosey (Lab mix), and Wiggins aka Mr. Wiggles (Terrier mix), and two rabbits (Cupcake and Buttercup) also reside at the Whittaker house.

 

Karen Whala, DVM

Veterinarian

Dr. Whala attended high school and community college in Reedley. Before attending UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine, she was an assistant pathologist at VMC, a QA at Zacky/Foster Farms, and a vet tech at UC Davis. Dr. Whala has been a part of Pet Medical Center and Spa since April of 2007. Karen is married to Arron, and has three stepchildren, Katie, Shelby, and Codi. Dr. Whala has one dog, Skeeter (Terrior mix). Dr. Whala loves gardening, hobby farming (if she had one), watching HGTV, studying Internet cases and traveling. Before becoming a veterinarian, Dr. Whala?s interests included traveling, petting zoos, endurance riding/western competition, and reading.

Jocelyn Wolter

Receptionist

Jocelyn joined our team in January of 2009. She enjoys sewing, spending time with her husband Jeremy, family, and friends, scrapbooking, traveling to the coast and new places. Jocelyn has two dogs, Buddah (Terrier mix) and Bella (Cock-A-Poo). She is currently working towards a B.S. in business.
